Lee Hickman

Owner Lee Hickman was born and raised in Horntown, Virginia on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. He has an extensive 20-year background in all aspects of landscaping and plants. Lee spent his childhood growing up on his family potato farm, where he learned the value of hard work and dedication at the young age of 8 years old. At the age of 13, Lee was introduced into the nursery business by working part-time at a nursery in Virginia. He took that experience and built a green house to start a vegetable stand on the side of the road to make extra money. Lee graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in crop management. He returned to the family farm to work for three years before moving to Charleston to open Hickman’s Landscape Maintenance in 2008. Today, Lee has grown that company into Charleston Grounds Management. He started Charleston Grounds Management with the goal to be the best reputable landscaping company in the greater Charleston area.

It is this background of hard work and family values that has made Lee a successful business owner today. He understands the importance of quality work and satisfied customers and is not scared to get down and dirty to make it happen. Lee believes in transparency with clients, guaranteeing that they always know what services they are paying for and that there is a reliable and consistent team working for them. Lee is personally involved in the daily operation and oversees the management team.

On his days off you can find Lee offshore fishing, hunting, or other outdoor activities.
